A wisdom tooth is a third molar which may or may not be present in your mouth .It need not be removed if they are fully erupted,properly positioned in your mouth and healthy.However most of the time they do not have place to grow and erupt in an unfavourable position causing pain in jaw sometimes radiating to ear and temples, food lodgement, swelling ,cysts to name a few.In these instances the tooth must be removed

No wisdom teeth also known as the third molars need not be replaced as they are entirely redundant and extraction of these teeth does not cause harm to the remaining teeth.

Orthognathic surgery also known as corrective jaw surgery is performed to correct conditions of the jaw and face related to structure,growth,sleep apnea,TMJ disorders,skeletal dis harmonies and to treat congenital conditions like cleft palate.
